The Son Dong Thermal Power Plant was initiated in 2006 and began operation in 2011. It is one of the major coal-fired power projects in northern Vietnam. The plant is equipped with modern technology, including a natural circulation boiler and a steam turbine. The total capacity of the plant is 220 MW, divided into two units, each with a capacity of 110 MW. The Son Dong Thermal Power Plant is essential for supplying electricity to the northern region, contributing to the stability of the national power grid. Additionally, the plant supports the economic and social development of Son Dong district and Bac Giang province, creating numerous job opportunities for local residents.
